Iowa Speedway -- For The Win!

For the last 4 years my entire racing existence has been at 2 tracks: Kansas Speedway and I-70 Speedway. I consider Kansas my "home" track since we live a mere 7 miles south of the track. We are so close we can hear the entire field roar to life when they give the command. Its breath taking sometimes.

When the Iowa Speedway was gracious enough to offer free tickets out to the first 100 people to get in contact with them, I jumped at the chance to see the Nationwide series at a different track. Another reason: I knew Carl Edwards would be driving along with Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick. Everything I heard about Iowa Speedway had been terrific, and this weekend was no different. The racing was flat fantastic. Plenty of racing for the lead, a few wrecks and great seats.

I want to be fair on this blog, but I will say that I'm a Carl Edwards fan, and I was very happy and excited to be seated very close to Carl's pit. The "cat in the hat" Jack Roush was in attendance as well. He spend the entire race perched up on the pit box and at one point even gave some late race tire "2 or 4 tires" advice when Carl asked. Very nice, had never heard that.

If you haven't had the time to make it out to Iowa Speedway, do it. You won't regret it. Until they get more seating and there are some drastic changes at other tracks, you won't see the Sprint Cup Series racing there. All that said, having a great race with the #2 series in the nation on the track doesn't hurt one bit.
